SteelBar
Mild steel round bar and square bar — solid steel rod for pins, shafts, frames, gates and general engineering.

Steel bar is solid hot-rolled merchant bar in round and square profiles. Round bar, often called steel rod, is used for pins, shafts, bolts, hooks, tie rods, axles and turned parts. Square bar is used for gates, balustrade pickets, frames, keys and decorative work. We supply mild steel round bar from 10 to 100 mm diameter and square bar from 10 to 50 mm, to AS/NZS 3679.1 Grade 300. It comes in 6 metre lengths or cut to length, in project and bulk quantities, with mill test certificates and full traceability. Flat bar is covered separately on our Steel Flat Bar page.

Steel Bar — Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes of round bar and square bar do you supply?
Mild steel round bar from 10 to 100 mm diameter and square bar from 10 to 50 mm, in Grade 300 to AS/NZS 3679.1, in 6 metre lengths or cut to length.
Is steel rod the same as round bar?
Yes. Steel rod and round bar both describe solid round mild steel bar. Reinforcing bar (rebar) is different: it is deformed Grade 500N bar made to AS/NZS 4671 for concrete. For concrete reinforcement, see our reinforcing mesh range.
How much does a 6 metre length of round bar weigh?
Multiply the mass per metre in the size table by 6. A 20 mm round bar is 2.47 kg/m, so a 6 m length weighs about 14.8 kg. Our steel weight calculator works out any size and length.
