MildSteel
Low-carbon structural steel in sections, plate, bar and hollow sections — versatile, weldable and machinable.

Mild steel — low-carbon structural steel — is the workhorse of construction and fabrication: strong, weldable, machinable and cost-effective. We supply mild steel across the full product range in standard structural grades (250, 300 and 350) including hot-rolled sections, plate, merchant bar and hollow sections. All products are sourced to the relevant Australian Standards with mill test certificates and full traceability for compliant fabrication.
Product Range
Mild Steel Sections
Hot-rolled universal beams, columns, parallel flange channels and angles in Grade 300 to AS/NZS 3679.1.
Mild Steel Plate & Sheet
Grade 250 and 350 structural plate and hot-rolled sheet for base plates, gussets and general fabrication.
Merchant Bar
Mild steel flat bar, round bar and square bar for fabrication, brackets and general engineering.
Mild Steel Hollow Sections
Cold-formed RHS, SHS and CHS in Grade C350 and C450 for framing and structural applications.
Material Grades & Certification
Supplied in standard structural grades with mechanical properties verified and EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates provided.

Mild Steel — Frequently Asked Questions
What is mild steel?
Low-carbon steel, typically Grade 250 or 300 in Australia, with carbon content under about 0.25 per cent. It is easy to cut, weld, drill and form, which makes it the standard material for general fabrication and structural work.
What mild steel products do you supply?
Sections (beams, channels, angles), plate and sheet, flat, round and square bar, and hollow sections, all to the relevant AS/NZS standard with mill test certificates.
Is mild steel the same as structural steel?
Structural steel is mild steel produced to a structural standard such as AS/NZS 3679.1 or AS/NZS 3678 with guaranteed mechanical properties. Merchant-quality mild steel may not carry those guarantees, so specify the standard for structural use.
