GalvanisedSteel
Zinc-coated steel for superior corrosion resistance — sheet, coil, hollow sections, pipe and purlins for Australian conditions.

Galvanised steel is carbon steel protected by a metallic zinc coating that resists corrosion in exposed, coastal and high-humidity environments. We supply the full range of galvanised products — from continuously hot-dip galvanised sheet and coil through to pre-galvanised hollow sections, pipe and cold-formed purlins — with zinc coating mass selected to suit the service environment. All products are sourced to AS 1397 and AS/NZS coating standards with mill test certificates and full traceability.
Product Range
Hot-Dip Galvanised Sheet & Coil
Continuously zinc-coated flat steel with coating mass from Z275 to Z600. Base metal thickness 0.13–3.0mm for roofing, purlins, framing and general fabrication.
Pre-Galvanised Hollow Sections
In-line galvanised RHS, SHS and CHS in a range of sizes and wall thicknesses for framing, posts and architectural applications.
Galvanised Pipe & Tube
Pre-galvanised and hot-dip galvanised pipe for fencing, scaffolding, handrails, services and structural use.
Galvanised Purlins & Sections
Cold-formed C and Z purlins and structural sections in galvanised finish for roofing and walling support.
Hot-Dip Galvanising After Fabrication
Batch hot-dip galvanising of fabricated steelwork to AS/NZS 4680, with coating thickness suited to the corrosivity category.
Common Applications
- Coastal and marine structures
- Fencing, gates and posts
- Roofing, purlins and cladding support
- Agricultural and rural structures
- Structural steelwork in exposed environments
- Walkways, handrails and balustrades
Relevant Standards
- AS 1397 — Steel sheet and strip (hot-dip zinc-coated)
- AS/NZS 4680 — Hot-dip galvanized (zinc) coatings on fabricated ferrous articles
- AS/NZS 4791 — Hot-dip galvanized (zinc) coatings on ferrous open sections
- AS/NZS 4792 — Hot-dip galvanized (zinc) coatings on ferrous hollow sections
- AS/NZS 1163 — Cold-formed structural steel hollow sections
- ASTM A653 — Hot-dip zinc-coated steel sheet
Galvanised Steel — Frequently Asked Questions
What galvanised steel products do you supply?
Galvanised sheet and coil, galvanised RHS, SHS and CHS, galvanised pipe, angle, purlins and lintels, plus hot-dip galvanising of fabricated steelwork to AS/NZS 4680.
How long does galvanised steel last in Australia?
In a typical inland urban environment a hot-dip galvanised coating of 85 µm lasts 50 years or more before first maintenance. In severe marine environments the life is shorter, which is why coating thickness and duplex paint systems matter for coastal projects.
What is the difference between galvanised and Zincalume steel?
Galvanised steel has a pure zinc coating that protects by sacrificial action. Zincalume uses a zinc-aluminium alloy coating with longer life in most exposed environments but is less suited to contact with wet concrete or lead. For roofing and cladding, see our roofing range.
