The manufacturing of structural steel components in a controlled factory environment before transporting them to site for assembly.
Prefabrication involves manufacturing complete or partial structural assemblies off-site in a factory. For steel construction, this can include pre-welded trusses, portal frame assemblies, stair modules, platform units, and connection components. Prefabrication offers several advantages: consistent quality from controlled conditions, reduced on-site labour, compressed construction programmes, reduced waste, and less weather exposure during fabrication. The approach is particularly beneficial for repetitive elements and remote project sites.
